WHIMSICAL FUN FOR EVERYONE
Aspiring work-at-home mom creates whimsical, personalized art with you in mind.
Port Huron, MI: Every child loves to see their name in print, or shall we say paint, and it is possible – no matter how unique their name is.
In an era where names like Apple, Bluebell, and Coco are present and popular, and a classic name like Katie is spelled multiple different ways, parents struggle to find artwork and décor that is personalized with their child’s name. Thanks to one enterprising woman, every child, pet or parent can have their name in paint on a handmade piece of art.
Lisa DeStefanis, a twenty-something mommy to her bulldog Diesel, designs stylish whimsical wall art, room décor, and tutus, which are available for sale on her website, www.littlepaintedpolkadots.com.
“There was a time when even the name Olivia was hard to find on the spinner rack in every gift shop or baby boutique across America.” said DeStefanis. “Olivia is my niece’s name, and we struggled to find personalized gifts for her. I didn’t want any other little girl or boy to stand sad-faced because their name wasn’t available.”
She began creating personalized gifts for her niece and nephew years ago and launched her business in March 2008, when she began selling her wares to friends and through word-of-mouth, at local shows and eventually through her website.
DeStefanis has also expanded into the wholesale market, selling to online boutiques and to brick and mortar stores. She offers more than a dozen different products to appeal to different style tastes, including Polka Dot Name Plaques, Whimsy Wall Letters, customized Growth Charts, Canvas Wall Art, and products for the posh parent as well. “I’m always adding new fun and funky designs, and I take custom orders frequently,” she noted.
“Everyone loves shopping for children,” she said. “My products make a great gift for any age – newborn up to a teenager. I even have adults requesting custom pieces for their bathrooms, office, and kitchen.”
DeStefanis enjoys what she is doing – her business and bringing smiles to the faces of both children and adults alike. She is living her dream and hoping to have all “made it” before she has children of her own. “My plan is to be a work-at-home mom when I am blessed with children. I wanted to get a jump start on that now, so I can enjoy the precious years with my little ones.”To view Little Painted Polka Dots products, visit www.littlepaintedpolkadots.com.
